I dislike it when people try to use logic to argue against divinity and religion.
- It elevates Religion to the same plateau as logic.
- There’s not really a logical basis for religion. Accordingly, I submit that religion and divinity cannot be examined though the lens of logic and reason.
I dislike it most when religious people try to “prove” their beliefs. Once a guy would not get off my case about how many prophecies Jesus fulfilled.
- You need to start with a falseable assertion to have a rigorous proof.
- Simply cataloging evidence doesn’t prove an assertion
I can’t remember being a person of faith. I always went to church (a weekly occurrence growing up, and we would go more often when my mom wasn’t in the hospital) with a bit of skepticism. Until I heard the story of the Tower of Babel.
I decided that I would not worship a God who was set against humanity.
I like ethical systems. And I would like for there to be some supernatural force that loves me unconditionally and so on, but I would be pretty ticked off if an infinitely capable force existed because that would mean there’s a lot of needless suffering in the world.
